This project is now 12 years old. Never officially released, I made these recordings as an experimental work in progress snapshot. I worked with these arrangments over time at various solo piano gigs in the Atlanta area. I had many chances to play extended improvisations on standard reportoire and would always work in some of my favorite music from of my favorite group The Beach Boys.
In addition to some of the recordings from the 1st and 2nd volumes of J.L.Y, there are you tube clips from the Jez Loves You live show we did in 2007. Thanks to Brian Wilson and The Beach Boy's for inspiring me.
Be Still- This song by Dennis Wilson and Stephen Kalinich from the album "Friends" (1968) was a real inspiration to me when I was growing up. Friends which shares a title with one of my favorite Chick Corea records was one of the first Beach Boys albums that I bought and has always been one of my favorites. This meditation on the words and music of Be Still is instrumental as are the rest of these selections.
The songs above are from the unreleased-"Jez Love You" series. The Endless Harmony Suite is a stream of consiousness piano piece that starts with an interpertation the Bruce Johnston composition Endless Harmony before veering of into other Beach Boys themes including the Brian Wilson-Mike Love classic "The Warmth of the Sun", my favorite Dennis Wilson Ballad-"Cuddle Up", "Surfer Girl"and others before closing with "Caroline No"
