JEZ SEZ 3.0-

This is the third version of the blog that I call Jez Sez. That was also the name of the 2nd song I ever wrote. It was an instrumental funk tune. Anyway, I'm going to update this version here on my website with some brief and not-so-brief observations, thoughts, and background into what made me write and finish the songs that I've released. I'm going to start with the ending of the last song on the latest release.

The meaning behind the end of One Hit Wonder.

If you were brave enough to make it through to the end of the new EP “Then The Light Changed,” I thank you. It’s meaningful to me, but some of it might not be everybody’s cup of Tea, particularly the tracks in “What Is That, Tea?, and “The Electric Lefty/Woogie Boogie Suite.” Those feature the unique (to me) conversations that develop between sets on a steady gig with the unique and interesting regulars who become like-minded travelers of the gigging universe, helping to make the time spent on the job better and always remembered.

The last cut, “One Hit Wonder,” is another story. In case you’re not familiar with the premise of the spoken lines over the last piano chord and improv, it’s based on a 1930s promotional film by The Marx Brothers (my earliest musical influences)where Groucho asks Harpo the question, Do You Want To Be On Stage? When Harpo nods his head yes, Groucho replies Crazy. I can relate to that, both the question and the answer. I'll have more to say on the song and the circumstances that led to the creation of it in another blog. Thanks for reading and listening.
